In October 2009, one of the leading laptop producers–ACER–introduced its new 3D laptops.
It seemed that after this successful achievement, ACER would stop for a while to have a rest. However, after a short period of time ACER is again in the spotlight for another revolutionary innovation.
There is an intriguing buzz, according to which the company is planning to produce a new, frameless laptop. Do you think it’s practically impossible? This is just another “technological wonder.”
The concept of a frameless laptop supposes that the colors will be printed right on the back part of the display. This back part, which is necessary to fix and secure the screen in its place, is planned to be a glass substrate of a material known as Gorilla Glass. This thin sheet glass is in fact very firm and damage resistant. So this will be a perfect substrate for a laptop display.
Sounds quite appealing, doesn’t it? But the frameless display is not the only innovative asset of the laptop. The traditional keyboard of the laptop will be substituted with a touch screen keyboard. This will allow to cut maximally the depth of the lower part of the laptop, which wouldn’t be possible with the traditional keyboard.
The absence of traditional screen frame will also reduce of the depth of the model noticeably, so it will be very thin.
This unprecedented model is also going to be rather silent: that irritating noise typical to traditional laptops will be reduced noticeably.
All the above mentioned features make this upcoming ACER frameless laptop a “dream model” for nearly everyone. However, the producer itself doesn’t seem to hurry with an official announcement yet. So there is no information about the details, the parameters and the possible notebook price.
The only comfort for those who are impatient are the rumors provided by sources like DigiTimes. And one of those rumors says that the ultra thin “alien Lap top” will be ready for use in the second half of 2010.
