Event RoverEvent Rover is an event viewer tool that records Windows NT and Windows 2000 events in three logs based on the type of event: security, system and application.

Event Rover comes as a support tool and works in sync with the Microsoft Windows NT line of operating systems. It lets users and administrators view event logs on local or remote machines.

With Windows Vista, the integrated event system was renewed and renamed Windows Event Log. Windows Event Log is the rewritten event tracing and logging architecture introduced for Windows Vista. Windows Event log is a service designed to allow applications to more precisely log events and to ease technicians’ and developers’ tasks to interpret the events. Event logs can be remotely viewed from other computers, while multiple event logs can be centralized by being monitored and managed from a single computer, thanks to the powerful Event Rover.

Event logs can be filtered by one or more criteria or a standard XPath expression, and custom views can be created for one or more events.

Event Rover is also changing the way administrators can view and sort event logs. The most remarkable feature of this tool is that it allows the possibility of sorting and filtering logs into a tree view effortlessly. That is to say, it represents a shift in the event log paradigm, which is much more efficient compared with their traditional linear form. That one is totally outdated, as log files grow too rapidly and are very large in size.

In other words, Event Rover helps system administrators review, organize, filter, group and control event logs easily and correctly.
